What is coaching?

The International Coach Federation defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential“.  At Accomplishment Coaching we believe that the coaching partnership is a powerful tool for producing results and to support clients in transforming their lives.

What is the International Coach Federation?

The International Coach Federation, formed in 1995, is the largest accrediting and credentialing body for professional coaching in the world, with approximately 22,000 coach members in over 100 countries worldwide. Among other roles, such as public education and coaching research, the ICF accredits coach training programs (such as Accomplishment Coaching) and administers professional credentials for individual coaches.

What is Ontology? What is Ontological Coaching?

Ontology is the study of the nature of being.  As ontological coaches, we support our clients in looking first at who they are being and who they want to be, and then let this inform what they want to do and the actions they will take.  This creates powerful shifts at a much deeper level creating impact in all areas of their lives.  It has clients move into alignment with who they want to be on the planet and into action from a more powerful place that creates sustainable results.

What makes Accomplishment Coaching the World's Finest Coach Training Program?

Our training program provides the most in-person training hours of any ICF accredited coach training program at 216 hours and is the longest program at 12 months in duration. It is rigorous, demanding and has the highest standards for ongoing personal and professional training and development not only for our participants but also for everyone involved in the delivery of the program. The year long program provides a triple focus on coach training, personal transformation and the development of a successful coaching practice. Our Ontological, being-based approach allows us to create transformation and results on a much deeper, more powerful level with our participants and in turn more successful and sustainable relationships with clients. All of this is provided within the structure of a thriving, supportive and diverse community of coaches worldwide.

Why is the program a year long?

The personal transformation and development of the coach is an important part of the Program. It is what allows our Coaches to create such powerful and successful partnerships with their clients. In the year long program, participants are assigned a coach (included in the program tuition) and are asked to do their own personal work, looking at every area of their own life. This allows them to come to their coaching relationships clear of as many personal biases and filters as possible. This process takes time. The year also allows the coaching methodologies and practices to become second nature and provides a fertile environment of support and collaboration where students start and grow their coaching practices while being supported by a network of successful coaches.

How long has Accomplishment Coaching been in business?

Accomplishment Coaching has been training coaches since 2001.

What is the required time commitment for someone taking the Coaches Training Program?

Participants in the program will attend 12 in-person 2-day training sessions, one weekend per month. In between weekends, participants will work with their coach (included in the program tuition) one hour per week (4 hours per month total). There are also practices assigned between weekends that include things such as assigned reading, watching movies, and various exercises to practice coaching tools and methodologies, develop personal awareness and build their coaching practice. Exercises between weekends also include team and partner work with other participants in the program. Participants can also expect to spend time coaching their own clients and developing their own coaching practice to the extent that they choose.

Is there research available to support the benefits of coaching for individuals and organizations?

There are countless documented benefits to working with a coach, including: generating clear goals, creating a stronger personal foundation, generating authentic power, creating structures to fulfill your declared future, creating an ability to take action beyond your resistance, and creating more joy and satisfaction in the process. In a recent study conducted for the International Coach Federation (ICF) by PricewaterhouseCoopers, respondents reported improvements in: self confidence, communication, relationships and work/life balance. In addition, 99% of those surveyed were satisfied with the experience and 96% would repeat the process. For more information on this and other studies, go to the Benefits or Research Portal sections of the ICF website.

What is the difference between an Executive Coach, Business Coach and a Life Coach?

As defined above, coaching is “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential“. The labels of Life, Business or Executive Coach are less important than the evocative process that defines the relationship. A professional “expert” relationship where expertise is being provided, for example in the realm of business, would be more correctly referred to as consulting versus coaching. The labels of Executive or Life coach could also be used to make it easier for potential clients to identify who the coach prefers to work with, however the coaching process is the same. The training that we provide at Accomplishment Coaching prepares students to impact clients at a much deeper, human level that supersedes their role or profession, and prepares graduates to coach individuals, businesses, groups or organizations on all issues that are common to the human experience.
