FIND A COACH : Arielle Ortiz
Bronx New York US
For over a decade, I have been on my own continuous journey to true authenticity and self-love. I’ve experienced feeling overwhelmingly disconnected from my environment and from myself, fearing that I was not good enough, not living up to my potential or taking advantage of opportunities the way I should. I felt ashamed, embarrassed and unmotivated. Unsure of how to handle my experience and unwilling to appear vulnerable to others, I quickly started creating an "other" narrative for my self that stayed safely and insidiously shut up inside. For so many years, I allowed this “disconnection” to hinder my ability to truly express and explore my own unique needs, wants, and desires.
I graduated from Howard University with a degree in Psychology (which I loved!) and earned two Masters degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University in Psychological Counseling. Prior to starting my path as an Accomplishment Coaching trained life coach, I developed my skills as a School Counselor/Transitional Coordinator at a non-public day school for students in Special Education in New York, and then as a College & Career Development Specialist in Maryland, while also experiencing a bunch of personal life transitions, such as becoming a mother, getting married and living in a new state. Despite these blessings, with no consistent self-care routine in place and overwhelming episodes of depression & anxiety, I was struggling to get through each day. What I felt, what I wanted to feel and what I was actually experiencing did not align for me. So much of my energy was spent on trying to build an “acceptable” identity, and control the experience of my life rather than choosing to experience what is and intentionally embracing the possibilities that come from authentic relating. Needless to say, four years post graduate school I burned out entirely and was ready to give up on everything.
And I am so grateful for that experience. I chose not to give up. Instead, I found enough self-compassion to reach out for help. Rather than continue to “suffer through” I chose to be intentional with myself and hired a life coach of my own. By finally choosing to truly commit to me and my journey, I learned how valuable my existence is and became re-inspired to be a person at cause (no longer a victim), dedicated to sharing this gift of transformative authenticity coaching with others for as long as I am called to do so.
When I am not working, I love to focus on my self care by watching my favorite TV shows, taking scented bubble baths, dancing or (my favorite) taking naps!
The time is NOW to experience what is...
