MOVIE RECOMMENDATIONS
is a visual feast of color and grace of movement. The dancing and the martial arts were precisely and expertly choreographed and filmed. The story is simple, yet holds a few surprises. This movie has heart and soul, portraying a range of human emotions and to what extremes we will go for what we stand for. From the coaching perspective I would look at what the experience of life is coming from survival mechanism, doing those things we know to do, doing what we’re told, coming from loyalty and obedience. Watch closely for what happens when choices are made from essence and what the experience of life is then. All choices have benefits and consequences, even a choice for possibility.
Go back and re-visit this jewel, with your awareness of Being and Being With. My experience is that it seems overplayed now, compared with my complete infatuation with it when seeing it for the first time. Notice the multi-dimensional speaking and listening, and the limits of what each character can be with. A great assortment of Survival Mechanisms, and a message that we seem to all get. Yet, each interprets it differently. See it with a friend and make sure to leave time to discuss it afterwards!
Although booze-induced lightness seems to fly in the face of Being, I enjoy these movies immensely. The Lightness of Being which allows Nick and Nora to float through parties, murder and marriage with the same joy and sense of humor as walking their dog gives me a lift, and restores my faith in humanity every time I watch this (these) classic(s). Also, the clothes and quips are wonderful! Enjoy!
